Jarvis and McCormack Claim Doubles Title at Beacon Invite

BOSTON – The Regis (Mass.) women's tennis team continued its impressive 2016-17 campaign, showcasing its talents Monday on the tournament stage as Katasha Jarvis (Mt. Vernon, N.Y.) and Ariana McCormack (Worcester, Mass.) won the doubles title in an all-Regis final at the 3rd Annual Beacons Invitational.

A singles competition was also part of the day's events with the Pride winning the overall team competition as well.

Jarvis and McCormack competed against teammates Jessie Lord (Fall River, Mass.) and Carly Scanlon (Canton, Mass.) and won 8-3 to claim the title. In a round robin format with doubles pairs from both Wentworth and host UMass-Boston, both teams won their two group stage matches to advance to the final.

The third-place match featured an all-Wentworth final with the 8-2 win going to the pair of Emily Jodoin and Veronica Monteiro.

Kailey Myers (Norwalk, Calif.) and Erica Murphy (Portsmouth, N.H.) also competed and performed well in the singles competition to help the Pride to the win. Myers topped Wentworth's Mackenzie Jones 6-1, 6-1 before falling in the semifinals. Murphy did her one better, winning both her quarterfinal and semifinal match in straight sets before falling in the championship to UMB's Kristy Garcia 6-4, 6-0.
