Women's Tennis Tops Moravian, Remains Perfect In Spring Play

ORLANDO, Fla.Amy DiPace (Cambridge, Mass.) rallied to win a third-set tiebreak, Ariana McCormack (Worcester, Mass.) clinched the win with a victory on the two court and the Regis (Mass.) women's tennis team remained undefeated to start the spring with a 6-3 win over Moravian College, Wednesday at the Lake Cane Tennis Courts.

Doubles play saw the Pride (13-1) fall behind after McCormack and Katasha Jarvis (Vernon, N.Y.) fell at the one 8-1. Regis responded when DiPace and Carly Scanlon (Canton, Mass.) won on the No. 3 court then took the lead heading to singles play when the second doubles team of Erica Murphy (Portsmouth, N.H.) and Jessie Lord (Fall River, Mass.) staved off a rally from Lauren Steinert (Mt. Bethel, Pa.) and Emily Snyder (Whitehall, Pa.) to win 8-6.

Regis would pull out some key wins in singles play after Moravian (4-3) tied the match with a win on the third singles court. Scanlon regained the lead for the Pride with a 6-2, 6-4 over Kate Rennar (Brick, N.J.) then DiPace gave her team the lead for good, beating Grace Bailly (Pound Ridge, N.Y.) at six singles 6-3, 4-6, 10-6.

On the No. 4 court in the last match to finish, Jarvis rallied for an exciting win over Steinert 5-7, 7-5, 10-4.

The Pride take the court one more time on the trip, facing Monmouth College Friday, 8:00 a.m. at the USTA Tennis Center. The Hounds next play at Ursinus on Saturday, Mar. 18.
