Women's Tennis Overwhelms Becker In NECC Action

LEICESTER, Mass. --- Emily Rice won at love in both doubles and singles and the Regis (Mass.) women's tennis team overwhelmed Becker College, 9-0, in New England Collegiate Conference action on Wednesday night at the Leicester Middle School Tennis Courts.

Regis improves to 6-1 and 4-0 in the NECC, maintaining first place in the conference. The Hawks of Becker drop to 3-5 and 2-3 against conference opponents.

Becker freshman Fiona Gilley (Worcester, Mass.) provided the most opposition with the closest match of the day. After falling in the first set, she pushed Kailey Myers (Norwalk, Calif.) to a tie-breaker in the second before falling short, 7-6.

Regis senior Erica Murphy (Portsmouth, N.H.) won 6-1, 6-0 at number one singles.

Becker is back on the court on Saturday when they travel to Lesley University for an 11:00 a.m. match. Regis hosts Bay Path College on Saturday at 1:00 p.m.
