PRIDE FALLS TO MUSTANGS

Weston, Mass.---The Regis College women's tennis team lost to Mount Ida College Wednesday (Oct. 12) by the score of  7-2.  The Pride moves to 1-12 overall on the season and are 1-10 in the Commonwealth Coast Conference. The visiting Mustangs move to 4-7 overall on the season and are 2-5 in the Great Northeast Athletic Conference.

Leading the Pride in singles was Maryse Emungu (South Burlington, Vt. /Rice Memorial) who defeated the Mustangs Amy Warner (Liverpool, NY. /Liverpool) by the score of (6-4, 6-4). Pride freshman Paige Pasley (Dorchester, Mass. /Fontbonne Academy) played a super tie break to defeat the Mustangs Melissa Smith (Warren, Conn./Wamogo Regional) by the score of (6-4, 7-5, 10-3). The Pride's junior captain Mary Jane Barron (Whitinsville, Mass. /Holy Name) played a long match against Jess Lindquist (Killingworth, Conn./Haddam-Killingworth) that ended with a Mustang win by the score of (6-4, 6-3).

In doubles the Mustangs swept the Pride 3-0 and were lead by the duo of Emilie Cloutier (Lewiston, Maine./Lewiston) and Veronica Williams (Tyngsboro, Mass./Auburn) who defeated the Pride's Alexandria Kuchera (Waltham, Mass. /Waltham)  and Mary Jane Barron by the score of 8-1. Rounding out doubles play for the Pride was Paige Pasley and Kunjan Patel (Waltham, Mass. /Waltham) who were defeated by Amy Warner and Jessica Lindquist by the score of 8-1.

This was the final match of the season for the Pride who finishes the season with an overall record of 1-12.

The Mustangs have two more matches left in their season that concludes on (Oct. 18) against Curry College.
