Pride Swim Teams Give Strong Performance at Elms

CHICOPEE, Mass. – The Regis College men's and women's swimming and diving teams both hit the pool Saturday against Elms College at the Partyka Natatorium, with the women's team coming out with an 157-91 victory while the men's team fell, 123-83.

In the women's 200 meter medley relay, the Pride's team of Kyleigh Boatwright (Roseville, Calif.), Lindsey Bone (Rosenberg, Texas), Alexa Lancisi (Milford, Mass.), and Sarah Leonard (Brockton, Mass.) finished in 2:16.34, just ahead of a second team of Regis swimmers. The two teams combined to collect 15 points in the event.

Boatwright won the women's 50 meter backstroke, finishing in 34.22 seconds, while Lancisi finished in third in 35.96 seconds. Boatwright also was victorious in the women's 100 meter backstroke with a time of 1:13.49.

In the women's 50 meter breaststroke, Julia Burke (North Andover, Mass.) and Bone led the way, finishing first and second in the event. Burke, Leonard, and Bone finished first, second, and third for Regis to compile a total of 16 points in the 100 meter breaststroke.

Jessica Zernitsky (Newton, Mass.) won the 50 meter freestyle in 29.97 seconds, while Lancisi and Mallytza Ibarra Davila (Yuma, Ariz.) both finished in the top five, earning points for the Pride. Cecelia Adelfio (Gloucester, Mass.) took first in the women's 400 meter freestyle in 5:13.82, beating her closest competitor by 8.64 seconds.

Elms' Julianne Gordon completed the women's 100 meter freestyle with a time of 1:11.02 to finish first, but Regis' Ibarra Davila finished in second and Ryan Moran (Arlington, Mass.) followed in third with times of 1:12.15 and 1:13.25, respectively.

On the men's side, the team of Robert Wood (Cathedral City, Calif), Brendan Pike (Weymouth, Mass.),Grant Kollien (Acton, Mass.), and Noah Toumayan-Miller (Natick, Mass.) outdueled their opposition with a time of 2:08.98. Pike picked up wins in the 50 meter breaststroke and the 100 meter freestyle.

Kollien finished first in the 800 meter freestyle, completing the event in 10:27.23 to finish in front of his nearest competitor by over 18 seconds. Meanwhile, Wood picked up a win in the 100 meter backstroke, finishing in 1:08.09, and he also finished first in the 100 meter IM with a time of 1:10.44.

The Regis College swimming and diving teams will be back in action for the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Championship at the Wellesley Sports Center, commencing on Friday, Jan. 31 at 6 p.m.
