Pride Women’s Swim & Dive Splits Double Dual

BABSON PARK, Mass. – The Regis College women's swimming and diving team nearly defeated host Babson, losing to the Beavers 123-108 while defeating the Norwich Cadets, 161-64, Saturday in a double dual meet at Morse Pool.

Regis picked up four overall event victories during the day, starting with Gloria Sutton (Suffield, Conn.) cruising to a 34.34-second victory in the 1000 freestyle with a season-best time of 11:54.46. Sutton also finished second in the 500 freestyle with another season-best mark of 5:46.30.

Alexa Lancisi (Milford, Mass.) posted a season-best time of 1:05.39 to win the 100 butterfly, followed by Katherine Mariano (Newton, Mass.) in second place in 1:07.84.

Sarah Leonard (Brockton, Mass.) won the 50 backstroke in 29.29 seconds, and then she led off the 200 freestyle relay with a 50 free split of 26.53 seconds, joining Mariano, Sutton, and Jessica Zernitsky (Newton, Mass.) in finishing first in the event in 1:47.67.

In the opening event of the meet, the 400 medley relay, Kyleigh Boatwright (Roseville, Calif.) led off with a 100 backstroke split of 1:05.68, helping Thalia Bowie (Lexington, Mass.), Lancisi, and Leonard to a second-place finish in 4:27.64. Boatwright finished second in the 200 individual medley in 2:21.55 and in the 100 freestyle in 57.28 seconds, both season-best times by a Pride swimmer.

Bowie finished second in the 200 freestyle with a season-best time of 2:10.08 and third in the 500 freestyle in 5:51.65, also a personal-best mark. Zernitsky finished second in the 50 freestyle in 26.88 seconds and fourth in the 100 freestyle in 1:00.51.

Elisabeth McQuaid (Marlborough, Mass.) finished second in both the one-meter diving event with 219.50 points and the three-meter diving event with 203.70 points.

Regis (4-2) heads to Standish, Maine, for a dual meet against GNAC rival Saint Joseph's College next Saturday, Nov. 17, starting at 12 p.m.
