DAY THREE OF NEISDA CHAMPIONSHIPS WRAP UP

SOUTH KINGSTOWN, R.I. – Regis College wrapped up day three of the New England Intercollegiate Swimming and Diving Association Championships with several qualifying times as well as some record breaking performances.

The Pride women finished 12th out of 20 teams, while the men placed ninth out of 12 teams on the weekend.

Alex Graf (Newton, Mass.) qualified for the ECAC Championships with a time of 48.08 in the 100 yard freestyle, which was good for a fifth place finish. Kiet Luong (Malden, Mass.) set a new school record and became the New England Champion in the 200 yard butterfly (1:53.85), qualifying for both the ECAC Championships as well as earning the men's program's first NCAA qualifying time.

The men's 400 free relay team of Robert Ekberg (Northbridge, Mass.), Cassidy Bastinelli (Newton, Mass.), Graf, and Luong also qualified for the ECAC Championships with a time of 3:16.44.

Bastinelli added a 9th place individual finish in the 100 yard free (49.59), while Ekberg was not far behind in the same event, taking 14th place with a time of 51.21. 

Mike Panagiotakos (Methuen, Mass.) took a 16th place individual finish in the 200 yard breast after registering a time of 2:37.53. 

Haley Bowen (Litchfield, N.H.) had a strong day for Regis, setting a school record in the 200 breast (2:31.11) and 100 breast (1:09.79), and also qualified for the ECAC Championships in both races. Bowen took fourth place in the 200 breast for the top individual finish of the day for the Pride women.

Bowen also teamed up with Shannan O'Neil (Lowell, Mass.), Megan Kennelly (Milford, Mass.), and Stacy Burns (Waltham, Mass.) for an 11th place finish in the 400 free relay (4:26.18). 

O'Neil added a 13th place individual finish in the 100 yard IM (1:06.98), while Amanda Iandoli (Mansfield, Mass.) finished 17th in the 200 yard fly after completing the event in 2:33.53.

Both teams return to action on Friday, February 28, at the ECAC Championships.
