PRIDE CELEBRATE SENIOR DAY AGAINST BEARS AND WARRIORS

WESTON, Mass. – The Regis College men's and women's swimming and diving teams celebrated their annual Senior Day on Saturday afternoon, hosting Bridgewater State University and Eastern Connecticut State University. The Pride men picked up a 126-117 win over Bridgewater State, while the women fell to Eastern Connecticut (77-28) and Bridgewater State (90-39).

In a pre-meet ceremony, the Pride honored their five seniors – Stacy Burns (Waltham, Mass.), Megan Kennelly (Milford, Mass.), Jane Nguyen (Dorchester, Mass.), Sean O'Brien (Westerly, R.I.) and Drew Wilder (Brockton, Mass.) – as well as the seniors from BSU and ECSU.

Freshman Kiet Luong (Malden, Mass.) set a new school record in the 200 fly with a time of 1:59.65. The rookie was also a part of the first place 200 yard medley relay team (1:21.54), which included Sean O'Brien, Alex Graf (Newton, Mass.), and Robert Ekberg (Northbridge, Mass.), and the 200 yard freestyle relay team (1:30.67) of Graf, Cassidy Bastinelli (Newton, Mass.) and Ekberg. Luong added a win in the 200 yard freestyle (1:56.04) as well.

Mike Panagiotakos (Methuen, Mass.) picked up a win in the 50 yard breaststroke (32.88). Alex Graf had a time of 22.18 in the 50 yard freestyle, good enough for the win, and later added a win in the 100 yard freestyle (49.11). Sean O'Brien took home the top time in the 100 yard breaststroke, while Cassidy Bastinelli won the 50 yard butterfly with a time of 25.40. Drew Wilder finished second in the 50 yard backstroke with a time of 33.69, only 1.6 seconds away from the top time.

For the women, Haley Bowen (Litchfield, N.H.) posted a time of 32.88 to come in second in the 50 yard breaststroke and later won the 100 yard breaststroke with a time of 1:12.05. Amanda Iandoli (Mansfield, Mass.) swam 1:11.16 in the 100 yard butterfly, while Shannan O'Neil (Lowell, Mass.) came in second in the 50 yard freestyle with a time of 27.22. O'Neil later added a time of 29.41 in the 50 yard butterfly, missing the top time by less than a second.

The senior duo of Kennelly and Burns both swam in the 100 yard freestyle, posting times of 1:02.73 and 1:03.29, respectively. Burns, O'Neil, Bowen, and Kennelly nearly won the 200 yard freestyle relay with a time of 1:50.08.

Head coach James Sweeney said after the meet, "It was a tremendous day to celebrate our graduating seniors. All have been an important part of building our program in the classroom and in the pool. Overall we had many lifetime and season best times, which is tremendous as we head to the New England Championships in two weeks."
