REGIS FALLS TO UNE ON THE ROAD

WESTON, Mass. - The Regis College men's and women's swimming and diving teams each fell on the road at the University of New England. The Pride women lost, 138-93, while the men were outscored, 88-81.

The men were led by junior Alex Graf (Newton, Mass.) and a pair of freshmen in Kiet Luong (Portland, Maine) and Robert Ekberg (Northbridge, Mass.).

Graf won the 50 Freestyle with a 23.22 finish and the 100 Freestyle with a time of 51.61. Ekberg took first place in the 200 Freestyle after completing the event in 2:05.06, which was .18 seconds faster than the second place finisher. Luong took home first place individual finishes in the 100 Butterfly (57.06) and the 500 Freestyle (5:19.35), while he also finished the 1000 Freestyle in 1:26.56 as the lone competitor in the event.

Junior captain Greg Sarantakis (Lowell, Mass.) teamed up with Graf, Ekberg, and Luong for a first place finish in the 200 Freestyle Relay. The team posted a time of 1:36.35, which was over five seconds faster than UNE's 'A' relay team. 

The women were paced by junior Shannan O'Neil (Lowell, Mass.), who was the top individual finisher in the 50 Freestyle and 50 Butterfly. O'Neil registered times of 27.78 and 30.54 in the events, respectively. Amanda Iandoli (Mansfield, Mass.) also finished second, while Laura Holland placed third, in the 50 Butterfly to complete a Regis sweep of the event. 

Holland also won the 100 Individual Medley (1:23.02), while Haley Bowen (Litchfield, N.H.) won the 100 Breaststroke (1:14.24) for the Pride. 

Additionally, Bowen and O'Neil, along with sophomore Lucia Llorente-Ruiz (Newton, Mass.) and senior Megan Kennelly (Milford, Mass.), defeated New England in the 200 Yard Medley Relay after posting a time of 1:54.61.

The Pride will return to action next Saturday, Nov. 2 for a 2 p.m. away meet at Bridgewater State.
