Women's Soccer Picks Up Win Over Anna Maria

WESTON, Mass. - Seven different players scored goals Wednesday night as the Regis (Mass.) women's soccer team picked up a dominating 8-1 win over Anna Maria College in Great Northeast Athletic Conference action at Regis Stadium.

With the win, the Pride moves to 2-2 on the season, 2-1 in GNAC play. The AMCats still seek their first win, falling to 0-3, 0-2 overall.

Each of the Pride's eight goals came in the first half, with the first goal coming off the foot of sophomore Erin Filetti (Newburyport, Mass.) in the sixth minute. The Pride wasted no time netting their second goal of the night, as Rachel Kelly (Whitman, Mass.) found the net 38 seconds later to give the Pride an early 2-0 lead. Kelly would add another goal just three minutes later, and was followed up by goals from Payton Fitzgerald (Danielson, Conn.), Tais Salles (Fort Lauderdale, Fla.), Maddie Michaud (New Orleans, La.), Michaela Bouvette (Mattapoisett, Mass.) and Ciara Viscione (Quincy, Mass.).

Anna Maria's Shannon LeBlanc (Lancaster, Mass.) ended the Pride's bid at a clean sheet in the 75th minute. The sophomore found a loose ball in the box after a corner kick and booted it past Regis goalkeeper Kyrsten Drake (Loganville, Ga.) for her first goal of the season.

Drake was credited with the win, making three saves on the evening. The loss went to Anna Maria's Arielle McCabe (Medford, Mass.), who made seven saves in the losing effort.
