Regis Women’s Lacrosse Earns Another Road Win

WATERVILLE, Maine – Just 24 hours after winning its season opener, Regis College was right back on the field, this time defeating Thomas College, 15-4, Friday afternoon in a non-conference women's collegiate lacrosse match at Bernatchez Field.

Kerri Anselmo (Natick, Mass.) and Jordyn Ringuette (Colchester, Conn.) led the Pride with four goals apiece, with Anselmo also collecting 10 draw controls and five ground balls. Rachel Nadeau (Coventry, Conn.) earned two goals and two assists, Brooke Ross (Hanover, Mass.) scored twice, and Meghan Sargent (Brattleboro, Vt.) also tallied two goals to go along with a team-high three caused turnovers.

Thomas (0-1) struck first just 1:49 into the match as Mackenzie Driscoll scored off an assist by Nikki Bradstreet. However, the Pride quickly responded, as Ringuette scored two goals 21 seconds apart, followed by tallies from Sargent and Anselmo to extend the Regis advantage to 4-1.

After a goal by Thomas' Autumn Howe, the Pride continued their offensive attack with three straight goals, including two more goals by Ringuette. Bradstreet picked up a goal of her own for the Terriers, but Regis increased its lead with three goals in the span of 1:29, led by two goals from Anselmo.

Regis continued to execute offensively to start the second half, as Amelia Thomas (Hopkinton, N.H.) and Nadeau scored goals 33 seconds apart. Ross scored just over three minutes later to establish a double-digit lead for the Pride, bringing about a running clock the rest of the match.

Brittany McPherson (Lynn, Mass.) made three saves as she faced just seven shots on goal from the Terriers. Addyson Bond started in net for Thomas and made 12 saves in just under 33 minutes of action, with Driscoll leading the Terrier offense with two goals.

Regis (2-0) opens the home schedule next week with two matches in three nights, facing Salem State Tuesday, March 10, and Gordon College Thursday, March 12, both starting at 7 p.m. at Regis Stadium.
