PROVIDENCE, R.I. - The Regis (Mass.) women's lacrosse team played its first ever Great Northeast Athletic Conference game and were overpowered 18-2 by the defending champions from Johnson & Wales Tuesday evening at the Scotts Miracle-Gro Athletics Complex.

With the win, the Wildcats move to 4-1 overall on the season, while the Pride drops to 1-2.

Johnson & Wales got out to a fast start, scoring the first eight goals before freshman Cheyanne Jones (Randolph Center, Vt.) got Regis on the board. Cat Nolan, Maria Patane, and Raquel Pederzani all scored twice during the run. Patane also added a trio of assists. JWU went into the locker room with a 12-1 advantage.

Madeline Bishara scored a trio of goals – as part of her career-high four scores - in the second half as the Wildcats nearly held the Pride scoreless in the final 30 minutes. Jones scored her second goal with 2:27 remaining. Five different Wildcats scored two or more goals.

Johnson & Wales controlled the tempo by winning 16 of 22 draw controls. The Wildcats had a 37 to 7 advantage in shots and won 27 ground balls, compared to 15 by Regis.

Patane recorded her second seven-point game of the year with four goals and three assists. She just missed her career-high of nine points set against Simmons during the 2017 GNAC Championship game. Pederzani equaled her career-high with six assists as part of her eight points (two goals, six assists).

Weather permitting, the Pride will next take the field in a non-conference matchup with Elms Thursday night at 7:00 p.m. at Regis Stadium.
