SALAMONE NETS SIXTH ROOKIE OF THE WEEK HONOR

WESTON, Mass. – For the fifth consecutive week and sixth time overall this season, Sam Salamone (Milford, Mass.) of the Regis College women's lacrosse team has been named the Rookie of the Week for the New England Collegiate Conference (NECC), as it was announced by the league on Monday. Salamone led the Pride with 14 goals in two games on the week.

The rookie midfielder scored eight goals, scooped up seven ground balls, won seven draw controls, and forced three caused turnovers in a loss to Salem State on Tuesday evening. Salamone followed that up with six goals, eight ground balls, seven draw controls, and three caused turnovers in the Pride's win over Wheelock on Saturday afternoon.

Through thirteen games this season, Salamone leads the league in goals (60), assists (19), points (79), ground balls (77), and draw controls (89).

Salamone and the Pride (7-6, 2-0 NECC) will be back in action tonight evening as they host NECC foe Daniel Webster College for a 6:00 p.m. game on the turf.
