SALAMONE NETS FIFTH NECC ROOKIE OF THE WEEK HONOR

WESTON, Mass. – For the fourth consecutive week and fifth time overall this season, Sam Salamone (Milford, Mass.) of the Regis College women's lacrosse team has been named the Rookie of the Week for the New England Collegiate Conference (NECC), as it was announced by the league on Monday morning. Salamone led the Pride with 14 points after scoring nine goals and dishing out five assists in two games this week.

The rookie midfielder scored four goals, scooped up five ground balls, had two draw controls, and two caused turnovers in a 12-9 loss to Saint Joseph's (Me.) on Thursday evening. Salamone followed that up by scoring five goals and five assists, grabbing five ground balls, nine draw controls, and one caused turnover in a win over Bay Path on Saturday afternoon.

Through eleven games this season, Salamone leads the league in assists (19), points (65), ground balls (62), and draw controls (75).

Salamone and the Pride will be back in action on Tuesday evening as they host Salem State for a non-conference game beginning at 6:00 p.m.
