POLITIS & SALAMONE CAPTURE NECC WEEKLY AWARDS

WESTON, Mass. – For the third week in a row and fourth time this season, a pair of Regis College women's lacrosse players have swept the New England Collegiate Conference's (NECC) weekly awards, as it was announced by the conference's offices Monday morning. Sophomore Grace Politis (Billerica, Mass.) nets NECC Player of the Week for the fifth consecutive time this season, while freshman Samantha Salamone (Milford, Mass.) garners Rookie of the Week honors for the third consecutive week and fourth time overall this season.

Politis notched ten goals in two games this week, while also adding ten ground balls, five draw controls, and three caused turnovers. On Tuesday against Bard, the sophomore attack scored eight goals, scooped up three ground balls, won five draw controls, and forced one caused turnover. Politis followed that performance with two goals, seven ground balls, and two caused turnovers in a 16-12 loss to Thomas (Me.) on Saturday afternoon.

Salamone also scored ten goals in two games this week for the Pride, while also adding nine ground balls, 20 draw controls, and three caused turnovers. The freshman midfielder scored seven goals, scooped up three ground balls, won six draw controls, and forced three caused turnovers against Bard on Tuesday evening. Salamone followed that up by scoring three goals, grabbing six ground balls, and winning 14 draw controls on Saturday afternoon against Thomas (Me.).

Regis (5-4) will be in action again on Thursday evening as they travel to Saint Joseph's (Me.) for a game at 7:30 p.m. The non-conference matchup will be played at Deering Memorial Stadium.
