POLITIS, SALAMONE SWEEP NECC HONORS FOR THIRD TIME

WESTON, Mass. – A pair of Regis College women's lacrosse players swept the New England Collegiate Conference's (NECC) weekly awards for the second consecutive week and third time this season after the Pride went 2-0 on the week. Sophomore Grace Politis (Billerica, Mass.) nets Player of the Week for the fourth consecutive time this season, while freshman Samantha Salamone (Milford, Mass.) garners Rookie of the Week honors for the second week in a row, third time this season.

Politis scored 11 goals and added an assist for 12 points in a two-win week for the Pride. The sophomore attacker recorded three goals, one assist, three ground balls, two caused turnovers, and three draw control wins in a 15-3 victory over Sage on Wednesday. Politis followed that up by netting eight goals, winning five draw controls, forcing one caused turnover, and scooping up one ground ball in a 19-8 win over Massachusetts Maritime on Saturday afternoon.

Salamone scored four goals and added three assists for seven points this week for Regis. Salamone recorded one goal, one assist, four ground balls, five draw controls, and two caused turnovers over Sage on Wednesday. On Saturday afternoon, the freshman midfielder scored a hat trick and made two assists, while also winning three draw controls, scooping up two ground balls, and forcing three caused turnovers as the Pride beat Massachusetts Maritime.

Regis (5-2) will be in action again on Tuesday evening as they host Bard at 6:00 p.m.
