CLERMONT, Fla. – The Regis College softball team split Wednesday's two games, winning their first game of the season against Rosemont, 7-6, after falling to Elizabethtown, 16-0.

Ellery Rasmussen (Kingston, N.H.) went 3-for-4 on the game and Kelsey Grimard (Pelham, N.H.) added three RBIs for the Pride as they took a 7-6 victory over the Ravens.
In the first inning after keeping the Pride bats off the scoreboard, Kaileigh Whalen found the gap up the middle to bring in Samantha DeFrancisco to score the first run of the game and put Rosemont up 1-0.
The Pride would respond by posting the next four runs of the game, the first of which came off a passed ball allowing Nikki Papadopoulos (Coventry, Conn.) to come across home plate and Morgan LeBaron (Rehoboth, Mass.) to take second base. After an Allie Petillo (West Sayville, N.Y.) single to center that put runners on second and third, Grimard hit a single of her own which allowed for Petillo and LeBaron to score. In the third, Sarah Fawcett (Londonderry, N.H.) would ground out to second which would push Brianna Napoleone (Medford, Mass.) across the plate as the fourth run of the game for the Pride.
In the bottom of the fifth, Colleen Hall would ground out to third base for the Ravens, earning an RBI in the process by giving Taylor Carter, who was on third, time to cross home plate to cut the Pride lead to 2 runs.
The sixth inning would see Grimard single down the left field line, once again getting LeBaron to cross home plate. The Ravens would knot things up in the bottom half of the inning, scoring three runs. The first would come from a Carter single up the middle that brought Analisa Yoder home. After Carter's single, a single to right center field from Madison Hagerty would bring in two and tie the game at 5-5.
After the Ravens tied things up, Napoleone sent the ball down the right field line and Rasmussen scored. After an error by the center fielder, Napoleone would cross home plate before Emma Kelly (Lynnfield, Mass.) would be tagged out at second base, scoring the run and putting the Pride up 7-5. The Ravens would score one run in the seventh, but the Pride would hold on for their first victory of the season.
Keira Columbus (Fitchburg, Mass.) started the game and went 5 2/3 innings, only allowing one walk in the no-decision. Nicole Tebo (Kingston, N.H.) picked up her first win of the season after taking over for Columbus in the sixth.
The Ravens dropped both of their games on Wednesday and now hold a 1-7 record.
Elizabethtown 16, Regis 0
After both teams were held scoreless in the first inning, Elizabethtown would strike as Lindsey Fasolo hit a two-run home run to kick off the second inning after a Christina Dark walk. The Blue Jays would score seven runs in the second inning and hold that lead going into the third.
In the third Elizabethtown would add two more runs to their lead, starting with a Brinley Schmidt sacrifice fly to left field that brought home Taylor Herman. Two batters later, Sarah Personette would find the gap in between second and short bringing Kady Johnson in from third base.
The Blue Jays would score four more runs in the fourth and put up three more in the fifth to finish the game. They would keep the Pride off the board to complete the shutout.
Elizabethtown split the day and now holds a 3-3 record after their Wednesday games.
Regis (1-5) has two more games Thursday, Mar. 7, which will round out their trip to Florida. The Pride will play Dominican (Ill.) at 9 a.m. and St. Elizabeth at 11:30 a.m. They will then be off until Sunday, Mar. 24, when they take on Lesley in a doubleheader on campus.
