CLERMONT, Fla. – The Regis College softball team continued their spring break games on Monday falling against Alverno College and York College.

Alverno 14, Regis 2

In the top of the first and runners on first and second base, Kaitlynn Schmick would connect with the ball and send it down the left field line resulting in a double, bringing the runner at second home. The next at bat found Carina Jimenez bringing in Kaitlynn Johnson in from third base off a sacrifice fly to right center field.

The Pride would respond in the bottom of the inning with a run of their own, when Ellery Rasmussen (Kingston, N.H.) found the gap between the shortstop and third basemen bringing home Kelsey Grimard (Pelham, N.H. ), who reached on a fielder's choice and then stole second. The score after the first was 2-1 in favor of the Inferno.

The Inferno would bring in seven runs in the second inning to build their lead, starting with a Samantha Chapnick single to right center field that was able to bring in a pair of runs.

The Pride would bring in another run in the fourth inning, when a pitch that went wide would allow the runners, with bases loaded, to advance, Emma Kelly (Lynnfield, Mass.) would cross home plate shrinking the Inferno lead to seven. 

In the fifth, the Inferno would put on five more runs and win the game with the final score 14-2.  Alverno would finish the day with a 3-1 record.

York (Pa.) 17, Regis 0

York came out in the first inning putting up the first tally of the game with a Taylor Lindsay single out to right field that brought in Shyla Pastore from second base. The Spartans would then in the second inning put up another 10 runs to increase their lead to 11.

The Pride would not be able to find a way to get their baserunners home, stranding three baserunners in the game, York would leave two on base in the game.  Pride pitching was able to strike out five different members of the Spartans roster in matchup. 

York would finish the day with a 4-2 winning both their games today.

The Pride move to 0-4 after the first two days of their spring break trip.  They will play four more games before returning to campus.  Their next game will be on Wednesday, Mar. 6 when they open the day taking on Elizabethtown at 9 a.m. They will then face Rosemont at 11:30 a.m.
