WESTON, Mass. – The Regis (Mass.) softball team had hoped to end the season on a high note but instead were handed a pair of losses by Norwich in a season finale Great Northeast Athletic Conference doubleheader on Monday at Regis Field. Regis closes the season at 7-25 overall and 3-21 in conference with the Cadets improving to 12-16 and 10-14 in league play.

Game 1
The Pride got off to a good start in the opener of the twinbill, plating three runs in its first at bats. Brianna Napoleone's (Medford, Mass.) base hit up the middle led to a pair of runs for the Pride who led 3-0 through two innings of play.

Ellery Rasmussen (Kingston, N.H.) delivered a solo homer in the third inning and Erika Andreoli (Naugatuck, Conn.) scored one inning later to extend the lead to 5-0 for the Pride who appeared to have control of the game with Allie Petillo (West Sayville, N.Y.) pitching scoreless ball through four innings. 

Norwich finally got on the board with a run in the fifth inning then took over the game with a six-run sixth inning. Naomi Rinaldo's (1 H, 1 R, 4 RBI) grand slam home run over the left centerfield fence gave the Cadets the lead at 7-5 and the Pride would be unable to muster any offense in the final two innings.

Emily Oliver (7-7) allowed four earned runs on 10 hits a complete game effort to earn the win for Norwich. Alyssa Rossillo (1-6) suffered the loss in a relief outing for the Pride.

Game 2
The nightcap saw Norwich mercy rule the Pride, plating multiple runs in each of the first four innings. Rinaldo (Middlefield, Conn.) doubled in a run in the first inning before being driven home on a Makenna Wade (Pensacola, Fla.) base hit to help the Cadets to the early lead. 

Kaylee Blanchard (Worcester, Mass.) doubled in a run to help push the lead to 4-0 after an inning and a half. Two innings later, with Norwich completely in control, back-to-back RBI doubles from Wade and Madison Miller (Long Lake, N.Y.) put the game away. Miller provided the offensive firepower for the game, recording three hits and scoring three runs with one RBI.

Sara Perry (4-7) earned the win for Norwich, allowing two hits in four and two-thirds scoreless innings. Rossillo (Sudbury, Mass.) pitched five complete in suffering her second loss of the day.
