Pride Men’s Cross Country Finishes Sixth at Suffolk Invite

BOSTON, Mass. – Led by two top-20 finishes, the Regis College men's cross country team finished in sixth place at the Suffolk Invitational Friday afternoon at Franklin Park.

Jovan Sematimba (Burlington, Mass.) once again led the Pride, finishing in 15th place overall with an eight-kilometer time of 28:36. Sophomore Sean Toomey (Salem, N.H.) posted the best 8K time of his collegiate career, crossing the finish line in 19th place with a time of 28:49, over a half-minute faster than his previous best mark.

Kyle Gillen-Hughes (Reading, Mass.) completed the course in 29:09, finishing in 27th place. Shane Romanchick (Trumbull, Conn.) was the next Pride runner to cross the finish line, posting a time of 29:43 for 39th place.

JJ Pedersen (Milford, Conn.) finished in 53rd place with a time of 30:55, just ahead of Gustavo Novelle-Ruddy (Boston, Mass.) in 56th place in 30:56, his best 8K time of the season by six seconds. Matt Sowden (Scituate, R.I.) posted a time of 34:20 to finish in 94th place.

As a team, the Pride ended up in sixth place with 148 points, nine points better than seventh-place Endicott. Led by race winner Stephen Korir (26:21), Tiffin easily won the team title, with Wentworth finishing in second place.

Regis will have two weeks to prepare for the Great Northeast Athletic Conference Championships, taking place Saturday, Oct. 27, at Saint Joseph's College in Standish, Maine.
