2019 Regis Men's Volleyball Schedule

WESTON, Mass. – The Regis College men's volleyball team has finalized its 25-match regular season schedule for 2019, featuring a contest against the defending national champion as well as a double round-robin slate within the Great Northeast Athletic Conference.

Marc Turiano begins his third season as head coach of the Pride men's volleyball team, with help from second-year assistant coach Kyle Kurlander. Turiano has led the Pride to 23 victories over the past two seasons, but he will face a challenge this season as over half the squad is new to the program.

Regis opens the 2019 campaign with home matches on back-to-back nights, starting Jan. 23 against MIT, a member of the United Volleyball Conference with a 16-9 overall record last season. NECC school Eastern Nazarene, coming off a 14-12 season, makes the trip to Higgins Court Jan. 24.

The Pride's first road match takes them west to face defending national champion Springfield College Jan. 29. Springfield, ranked first in the AVCA Division III Preseason Coaches' Poll, posted a 31-2 overall record last year and swept through the NCAA Division III Men's Volleyball Tournament for its 11th national championship in program history.

Regis opens February with a home match against first-year program Nichols Feb. 1, followed by its first conference match of the season at Johnson & Wales Feb. 6. The Pride travel to Franklin, Mass., Feb. 9 for a tri-match against Colby-Sawyer, another first-year men's volleyball program, and host Dean College.

The Pride host Newbury College Feb. 13 before traveling Feb. 15 to Endicott College, receiving votes in the preseason AVCA poll after a 23-4 record in 2018. The next day, Regis heads to Providence, R.I., for a neutral site contest against Dean, coming off a 15-10 mark last year.

Regis jumps back into GNAC play with three straight road league contests, starting at defending league champion Rivier Feb. 20. The Pride then heads to Emerson Feb. 22 and to Colby-Sawyer Feb. 27 before concluding the four-match road swing at Bard March 12.

Starting with a tri-match March 16 against Lasell and Emmanuel, Regis plays four straight home contests, with visits from Wentworth March 19 and Dean March 21. The Pride head to Emmanuel for a GNAC tri-match March 23 that also involves Colby-Sawyer, followed by a home conference tri-match March 30 against Rivier, also receiving votes in the national preseason poll, and Johnson & Wales.

The Pride closes out the regular season with three matches in five days, hosting Emerson April 2 before traveling to Lasell April 4 and Wentworth April 6. Regis will be looking to improve upon last year's 3-11 GNAC mark during its first season within the league.

The top six teams in the final GNAC regular season standings will qualify for the conference tournament, starting with the quarterfinals April 9. The top two teams will receive a bye into the semifinals, which they will host April 11, with the highest remaining seed hosting the championship match April 13.

All fans are welcome to attend Regis home volleyball matches at Higgins Court free of charge, plus every home match will include a live video stream and live stats for those unable to come to campus.
