WESTON, Mass. – The Regis College men's volleyball team used set scores of 25-14, 25-8, and 25-23 to defeat Anna Maria College, 3-0, on Friday night in non-conference action. The Pride improve to 5-4 overall, while Anna Maria drops to 0-1 in the program's first season.

Zach Sindoni (Haverhill, Mass.) led all players with 14 kills on the night, posting a .778 hitting percentage. Sean Bisnett (Oxnard, Calif.) added nine kills and seven digs, while Jon Fuentes (Downey, Calif.) and Joe Coye (Plaistow, N.H.) had seven kills apiece. Coye would lead the Pride defense with nine digs on the night, while Joe Hanrahan (Coventry, R.I.) dished out a match-high 28 assists. The Pride swung .321 as a team on the night, committing only 14 errors on 81 attempts.

Anna Maria was led by seven kills from Dylan Copeland (Haverhill, Mass.) and six kills from Peter Griffenkranz (Deer Park, N.Y.). Griffenkranz added six digs, while Copeland had five of his own. Michael Gaudelli (Hicksville, N.Y.) had 16 assists for the AMCATS, and he and Michael Goncalves (Milford, Mass.) had four digs apiece. Jonathan Gallardo (Marlborough, Mass.) added four kills for the visitors.

The AMCATS scored the first point of the match on a Pride error, but Regis eventually took an 11-4 lead after a Fuentes kill. A Joe Coye kill later gave the Pride an 18-8 lead, and the AMCATS would get as close as eight a few times in the opening set, but the Pride held on for the 25-14 win.

The second set was all Regis as they hit .478 in the game and six Regis players registered at least one kill. Sindoni posted four kills in the second stanza, while his classmate Bisnett added three of his own.

Set three saw Regis jump out to an early 3-0 lead, but the AMCATS quickly erased the deficit, tying the score at 6-6 following a Pride error. AMC's Jonathan Gallardo tied the score at 8-8 with a kill and Anna Maria later took a 10-9 lead after another Regis miscue.

The teams traded points before Bisnett gave the Pride a 20-17 lead with a kill on a pass from Sindoni. As they had done all game, Anna Maria battled back, and Dylan Copeland got the AMCATS within one at 21-20 following a kill and forcing a Regis timeout. A Pride error out of the break tied the score at 21-all and Anna Maria eventually took a 23-22 lead on a Griffenkranz and Ty Discoe (Pittsfield, Mass.) block.

Sindoni knotted the game at 23-23 with a kill and an Anna Maria error forced the visitors to call timeout trailing 24-23. Out of the break, Jon Fuentes stepped to the service line and placed a perfect serve into the back left corner for an ace that gave the Pride the 25-23 win.

The Crimson and Gold return to action next Thursday as the Pride hosts the Wentworth Institute of Technology in a 7:00 p.m. match. Anna Maria will look for it's first-ever win on Tuesday night when they host Johnson & Wales University at 7:00 p.m.
