PRIDE ADD TWO MORE WINS, WINNING-STREAK AT FIVE

WESTON, Mass. - The Regis College men's volleyball team hosted four matches on Saturday afternoon, as the Pride went 2-0 with wins over St. Joseph's College of Brooklyn and CCRI. Mount Ida College also picked up a pair of wins over the Bears and Knights.

Regis sets a new program record for wins in a season as they move to 5-3 overall and have won five-straight matches. Mount Ida pushes its record over .500 to 6-5, while St. Joseph's falls to 1-3 this year and CCRI lands at 3-10.

In the first match of the day, Regis swept St. Joseph's College of Brooklyn, 3-0, by set scores of 25-6, 25-13, and 25-15. Zach Sindoni (Haverhill, Mass.) and Joe Coye (Plaistow, N.H.) posted seven kills apiece for the Pride, while Sindoni added eight digs and Coye had six digs. Sean Bisnett (Oxnard, Calif.) and Evan Stone (Stockton, Calif.) chipped in six kills apiece, while Joe Hanrahan (Coventry, R.I.) handed out a match-high 29 assists.

St. Joseph's was led by four kills apiece from Raul Urshela (Orlando, Fla.) and Taso Kostikas (Brooklyn, N.Y.). Clyde Delacruz (Brooklyn, N.Y.) added the other two kills for the Bears. Javier Bosque (Brooklyn, N.Y.) led the Bears defense with five digs, while Urshela had three digs to go with a pair of blocks. Iqbal Husain (West Palm Beach, Fla.) handed out 10 assists in the match.

On court two, Mount Ida College defeated CCRI, 3-1, using set scores of 25-22, 27-25, 22-25, and 25-23. The Mustangs were led by 13 kills from James Ames (West Hartford, Conn.) as the sophomore also added nine digs. Nick Schibi (Torrington, Conn.) also registered double-digits in kills with 10, while Jimmy Wessel (DeKalb, Ill.) posted a game-high 10 digs. Michael McCullough (Southborough, Mass.) and Brady Rodriguez (Longwood, Fla.) added 18 assists, and 17 assists each, respectively.

CCRI was led by 13 kills and two service aces from Sean St. Jacques. Brendan Baker added 10 kills, while Norah Chao and Jeff Ramoff led the Knights defense with three digs apiece.

In the Pride's second match of the day, Regis and CCRI were locked in a back and forth battle that needed five sets to determine the outcome, with the Pride coming out on top 3-2 (25-22, 22-25, 25-19, 17-25, 16-14). Sean Bisnett led the Pride with 14 kills and added seven digs, while Joe Coye was right behind him with 13 kills, seven digs, and five total blocks. Zach Sindoni added nine kills as well as 26 assists to go with four digs and five blocks.

The Knights were led by 14 kills from Brendan Baker, while Sean St. Jacques had 12 kills and Brandon Tordoff had 11 of his own. Tommy Reyes handed out a match-high 40 assists and added seven service aces and nine digs.

Mount Ida stayed perfect on the day with a 3-0 sweep of the Bears by set scores of 25-16, 25-21, and 25-14. Brady Rodriguez led the Mustangs with nine kills and five service aces and Nick Schibi added seven kills in the win. Rodriguez also added a team-high eight digs, while Corey Brindamour (Barrington, R.I.) chipped in eight digs as well. Michael McCullough posted a game-high 29 assists for the Mustangs.

St. Joseph's was led by five kills apiece from Raul Urshela and Clyde Delacruz. Husain Iqbal added seven assists and nine digs, while Taso Kostikas added a game-high 12 digs. Urshela led the Bears defense with six total blocks in the match.

Regis returns to action on Tuesday night when the Pride travels to Endicott College for a New England Collegiate Conference matchup scheduled for 7:00 p.m. in Beverly, Mass.
