School Records Shattered at Tufts

MEDFORD, Mass. – The Regis College men's indoor track and field team was in action Saturday at the Branwen Smith-King Invitational hosted by Tufts.

In the 4x800 meter relay, AJ Corso (Broad Brook, Conn.), Noah Ryan (Stockton, Calif.), Nicholas Sahagian (Fort Lauderdale, Fla.), and Michael Carroll (Lynn, Mass.) teamed together to shatter the school record by 9.78 seconds, finishing the race with a combined time of 8:47.59. JJ Pedersen (Milford, Conn.) broke his school record in the 5000 meter run with a time of 15:36.68, over 10 seconds faster than his time from Dec. 7.

Sophomore Nicholas Pastore (Norwood, Mass.) reached the semifinals of the 60 meter dash, completing the semifinal heat in 7.36 seconds, a new personal best. Carroll also broke his personal record in the 600 meter run by 5.31 seconds, finishing in 1:32.57.

Sahagian and Gustavo Novelle-Ruddy (Boston, Mass.) both broke their personal records in the 3000 meter run with times of 9:27.56 and 10:14.16, respectively. Cole Anderson (Falmouth, Maine) set a new personal best in the weight throw with a distance of 14.35 meters, falling just outside the top 10.

The Pride will be in action next Saturday, Feb. 8, at the Panther Invitational at Plymouth State for their final tune-up before the inaugural Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Indoor Track and Field Championships.
