Men’s Tennis Victorious in GNAC Contest

WESTON, Mass. – Regis College won 7-2 over Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) opponent Suffolk Wednesday afternoon at the Regis Tennis Center.

The Pride picked up the first point of the match with Sebastian Torres and Owen Pelissier winning in second doubles, 8-2. Cam Charbonneau and Matt DaRosso took another point for the Pride with an 8-4 victory in third doubles. The Rams took a point in doubles play with an 8-7 (8-6) victory in first doubles.

With the Pride up 2-1 heading into singles, Johnny Pallotta won his match in third singles 6-0, 6-0. Mitchell Weiner also picked up a victory with his 6-2, 6-3 win in fifth singles. Charbonneau earned the match-clinching point for the Pride with a 6-2, 6-3 victory.

Torres and Evan Russell both picked up points for Regis as Torres won 6-3, 6-2, while Russell took a three-set battle 6-2, 6-7 (7-9), 6-3. Nick Vaillancourt took a victory in second singles winning 7-5, 2-6, 1-0 (10-7).

Suffolk (2-9, 0-4 GNAC) plays on Thursday, Apr. 18 against UMass Dartmouth in a 3:30 p.m. match.

Regis (9-10, 2-2 GNAC) hosts Norwich tomorrow Thursday, Apr. 18 at 4:30 p.m. in their final regular season match of the year.
