Regis Men’s Tennis Loses in Conference Opener

QUINCY, Mass. – Regis College lost to Eastern Nazarene College, 9-0, Tuesday in the Great Northeast Athletic Conference opener for the Pride at the ENC Tennis Courts.

Eastern Nazarene (9-6, 2-0 GNAC) swept the three doubles sets, but completing the sweep was a battle for the Lions. At number one doubles, Johnny Pallotta (Bay Shore, N.Y.) and Nolan Bebarta (Danville, Calif.) pushed their opponents before finally falling, 8-6.

The Lions won five of the six singles matches in straight sets, with the only long contest coming at number two singles. Sebastian Torres (San Juan, Puerto Rico) won the first set, 6-3, and played to a tiebreaker in the second set. However, his opponent won that tiebreaker, 7-5, and then prevailed in the super-tiebreaker, 10-7, to complete the shutout for the home team.

Regis (6-8, 0-1 GNAC) hits the road once again Thursday, April 4, for a non-conference match against Wheaton starting at 4 p.m. After traveling to Johnson & Wales Saturday, April 6, for a 6 p.m. contest, the Pride close out the regular season with four home matches in the span of 10 days.
