Pride Defeat UMass Boston

WESTON, Mass. – The Regis College men's tennis team outlasted the Beacons of UMass Boston Sunday afternoon at the Regis Tennis Center winning 7-2.

In second doubles the team of Evan Russell (East Wareham, Mass.) and Nolan Bebarta (Danville, Calif.) defeated the Beacons pairing of Ray Platteel and Onkgopotse Mokoka, 8-3.  First doubles would finish with Luke Horton (Bass Harbor, Maine) and Sebastian Torres (San Juan, Puerto Rico) winning their match in the by the score of 8-3.  The Pride would also take third doubles, with Owen Pelissier (Hingham, Mass.) and Mitchell Weiner (Plano, Texas) defeating Leonardo Mang and Jay Cyriaque, 8-4.

To begin singles, Kyle Dugat (Houston, Texas) would win his match at fifth singles against Mang (6-1, 6-1).  The Beacons would pick up a point with a win in first singles coming from Nandish Shah who took the match in straight sets.

The clinching point of the match would come from Cam Charbonneau (Guilford, Conn.) who would be able to take down his opponent in fourth singles (6-2, 6-2).  Horton also was able to pick up a win in second singles shortly thereafter.  The final match between Matt DaRosso (Yonkers, N.Y.) and Moon Adra would go to a super tiebreaker, with Adra coming out on top (6-1, 4-6, 1-0 (10-1)).

The Pride will finish their fall season with a match against Emerson on Friday, Oct. 12 at the Regis Tennis Center.
