Men's Tennis Drops First Match of 2018 In Loss To Judson (IL)

ORLANDO - The Regis (Mass.) men's tennis team suffered its first loss of 2018, ending an eight-game spring break win streak with an 8-1 loss to Judson (IL) Tuesday at the USTA National Campus. The Pride falls to 7-3 overall and 2-1 on the current spring trip with the Eagles improving to 12-4.

The Pride's lone win came at first singles when Christopher Veltcamp (Streamwood, Ill.) had to withdraw in his match with Chris Harrow (North Reading, Mass.) due to injury. This came after the Eagles swept Regis in doubles play to take a commanding lead in the match. Third doubles featured the closest competition with the Pride tandem of Kyle Dugat (Houston, Texas) and Owen Pelissier (Hingham, Mass.) falling 8-3 to Michael Bruen (Canberra, Australia) and Trevor Butler (Washington, Ill.).

Singles play saw Cam Charbonneau (Guilford, Conn.) nearly pulled off a first set win but eventually suffered a 7-5, 6-1 sweep. Tim Miller (North Attleboro, Mass.) pushed Butler to a third set, rallying for a second set win but falling 6-3, 1-6, 10-2.

The Pride will have a day off before returning to action Thursday against Muhlenberg at the USTA National Campus.
