Men's Tennis Falls Short in Fall Finale

WESTON, Mass. - Sophomore Kyle Dugat (Houston, Texas) picked up a win at No. 6 singles, but it was not enough as the Regis (Mass.) men's tennis team fell 8-1 to Franklin Pierce University in non-conference action Thursday afternoon at the Regis Tennis Center.

With the win, the Ravens move to 2-1 on the season, while the Pride concludes its fall season with a record of 5-2.

Franklin Pierce opened the day by cruising in doubles play to jump out to a quick 3-0 lead. The first win of the afternoon was at No. 3 doubles, where Marcus Lawrence (Acton, Mass.) and Dan Longtin (Eliot, Maine) defeated Dugat and freshman Tim Miller (North Attleboro, Mass.) 8-5. Raven juniors James Bisazza (West Barnstable, Mass.) and Andrew Schadt (Tolland, Conn.) won by the same 8-5 margin at No. 1 doubles, defeating the Pride's Chris Harrow (North Reading, Mass.) and Luke Horton (Bass Harbor, Maine). Roberto Chong (Puigpunyent, Spain) and Yuval Barak (Zicron Ya'akov, Israel) rounded out the doubles sweep from the second position, downing Nolan Bebarta (Danville, Calif.) and Johnny Pallotta (Bay Shore, N.Y.) 8-2.

Wins from Chong at No. 2 and Lawrence at No. 5 clinched the match for the Ravens after singles play got under way. Dugat's win at No. 6 came over Longtin by a score of 6-2, 6-1.
