Men's Tennis Runs Win Streak To Five, Blanks UMass-Dartmouth

DARTMOUTH, Mass. - The Regis (Mass.) men's tennis team ran its win streak to five matches, blanking UMass-Dartmouth, 9-0, on Thursday at the UMD Tennis Courts. The Pride (5-1) haven't lost since since its season opener nearly one month ago.

Chris Harrow (North Reading, Mass.), Luke Horton (Bass Harbor, Maine) and Nolan Bebarta (Danville, Calif.) all collected doubles and singles wins on the day. Bebarta, with partner Johnny Pallotta (Bay Shore, N.Y.) got the first result of the match at two doubles. Harrow and Horton topped Patrick Pacheco (Fall River, Mass.) and Anthony Joseph (Fairhaven, Mass.) 8-2 on the No. 2 court to assure the lead for the Pride after doubles, then Tim Miller (North Attleboro, Mass.) and Mitchell Weiner (Plano, Texas) took care of business with an 8-5 win at the three over Zach Pavao (Somerset, Mass.) and Leon Xiong (Wellesley, Mass.).

The match was clinched in singles play with wins on the one and two courts, respectively. Harrow topped Pacheco 6-0, 6-0 at first singles with Horton beating Tristin Viale (Westfield, Mass.) 6-3, 6-0 at the two.

Four and six singles proved to be the most competitive of the match. Cam Charbonneau (Guilford, Conn.) pulled out a three-set victory at the four over Eli Brooks (Franklin, Mass.) 6-4, 4-6, 10-8 with Evan Russell (East Wareham, Mass.) sweeping but pushed to a 7-5 score in each set on the No. 6 court by Pavao.

Regis closes its fall non-championship season next Thursday, Oct. 12 at home versus Franklin Pierce. Doubles play is set for 4:30 p.m. at the Regis Tennis Center. UMD (0-3) closes its fall season and will return to action Feb. 24 vs Wheaton.
