PRIDE ENDS SEASON AT WENTWORTH

BOSTON, Mass. – The Wentworth men’s tennis team concluded regular-season play with a clean sweep as the Leopards downed Regis, 9-0, in a The Commonwealth Coast Conference match at the Sportsmen’s Tennis Club.

Sophomore Juan Rodriguez (Quito, Ecuador) teamed with junior Nate Gove (Scarborough, Maine) at number one doubles to defeat freshman Jeffrie Parrish (Framingham, Mass.) and classmate Andy White (Bozeman, Mont.).  Junior Dave Filar (Wolcott, Conn.) and sophomore Tim Nguyen (Wolcott, Conn.) took an 8-1 decision over sophomore Matthew Smolko (Pelham, N.H.) and classmate Mouhamed Diallo (Boston, Mass.) at number three doubles before freshman Thuan Nguyen (Randolph, Mass.) and sophomore Joel Vastl (North Salem, N.H.) gave the hosts a 3-0 lead with an 8-4 win over freshman Daniel Berdichevsky (Wayland, Mass.) and sophomore Sophron Nop (Lowell, Mass.) at number two doubles.

Wewntworth didn’t drop a set in singles play with Vastl defeating freshman Jonathan Dost (Taunton, Mass.), 6-0, 6-0, at number six singles and Rodriguez clinching the match with a 6-1, 6-1 win over Berdichevsky.

Tim Nguyen defeated Nop, 6-3, 6-0, at number five singles before Gove defeated White, 6-3, 6-0, at number three singles.  Thuan Nguyen swept Parrish, 6-3, 6-1 at number two singles before Filar’s 6-1, 6-3 win over Smolko at number four singles completed the sweep.

Wentworth will face an opponent to be announced on Monday in TCCC Quarterfinals.  Regis ends its season at 1-17.
