Regis Men’s Swim & Dive Prevails in Return to Action

NEW LONDON, N.H. – In a battle of two shorthanded teams, Regis College squeaked past Colby-Sawyer College, 69-64, Saturday afternoon in a men's collegiate swimming dual meet at the Knight Natatorium.

The Pride earned the overall dual meet win thanks to victories in two key events. First, Noah Toumayan-Miller (Natick, Mass.) won the 50 freestyle in 26.44 seconds as he took advantage of a mistake by the Chargers. In the 100 freestyle, Robert Wood (Cathedral City, Calif.) touched the wall first with a time of 52.15 seconds, less than 8/10ths of a second ahead of Colby-Sawyer's top finisher.

Wood also posted a time of 1:54.80 in the 200 freestyle and a personal season-best mark of 2:09.37 in the 200 individual medley, just 14/100ths of a second behind the winning time of 2:09.23 earned by teammate Brendan Pike (Weymouth, Mass.). Pike also competed in the 50 breaststroke with a time of 30.65 seconds and the 500 freestyle with a mark of 5:29.73.

After finishing the 100 freestyle with a time of 59.11 seconds, Toumayan-Miller completed the 100 breaststroke with a personal season-best mark of 1:27.26.

Regis College (3-3 in dual meets) concludes the regular season with a matchup at Elms College against the Blazers next Saturday, Jan. 18, starting at 10 a.m. The Pride will then get ready for the GNAC Championships Friday, Jan. 31 through Sunday, Feb. 2, and the NEISDA Championships Thursday, Feb. 13 through Sunday, Feb. 16.
