PRIDE COMPETE IN DUAL MEET AT BRIDGEWATER STATE

BRIDGEWATER, Mass. – The Regis College men's and women's swimming & diving teams competed in a dual match at the campus of Bridgewater State University on Saturday afternoon. The Pride men earned a 114-111 victory over the host Bears while the Pride women defeated Eastern Connecticut State University 111-93, but lost a 115-111 matchup to Bridgewater State.

For the men, the 200 yard medley relay squad of Kiet Luong (Malden, Mass.), Joshua Unas (Santa Clarita, Calif.), Nick Rainville (Reading, Mass.) and Cassidy Bastianelli (Newton, Mass.) took home the best time in the event finishing the race in 1:43.59. Luong took home two individual events as well. He finished first in the 50 yard freestyle (22.83) and the 100 yard back (59.92). Sophomore Michael Bruno (Winthrop, Mass.) claimed the top prize in the 1000 yard freestyle with a time of 11:28.29, Bastianelli swam in the 100 yard free in 49.90 and Rainville finished first in the 100 yard butterfly (55.49).

On the women's side, the quartet of Jessica Higgins (Peabody, Mass.), Molly Belles (Scranton, Pa.), Lucia Llorente Ruiz (Newton, Mass.) and Ali Butcher (Natick, Mass.) came in first in the 400 yard freestyle with a time of 4:04.30. Higgins, like Luong also finished first in two individual events as she placed first in the 200 yard individual medley with a time of 2:24.12 and 100 yard butterfly (1:05.83). Belles completed the 100 yard backstroke in 1:05.14 which was the best time in the event and Butcher finished first in the 50 yard freestyle in 26.87.

Regis returns to the pool next Saturday, November 7th when the Crimson and Gold travel to Gordon for a 1:00 p.m. meet.
