GRAF & LUONG SWEEP GNAC WEEKLY AWARDS

WESTON, Mass. – For the second time this season, junior Alex Graf (Newton, Mass.) and freshman Kiet Luong (Malden, Mass.) of the Regis College men's swimming & diving team have swept the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) weekly awards.

Graf has been named the GNAC Swimmer of the Week, while Luong captured Rookie of the Week distinction. The pair was outstanding at the NEISDA Championships this past weekend at the University of Rhode Island.

Graf qualified for four ECAC Championship races as well as set one new school record this weekend. His ECAC qualifying races include: 100 yard Free (48.08), 400 yard Relay (3:16.44), 200 yard Medley Relay (1:39.53), and the 800 yard Free Relay (7:30.52), which was a new Regis College record. The 800 yard Free Relay team, which Graf led off in an ECAC qualifying time of 1:46.69, took third place at the Championships, while the 200 yard Medley Relay team finished in fourth. Graf added a third place finish in the 50 yard Fly (24.07) and 5th place finish in the 50 yard Free (21.86).

Luong set a slew of new school records and qualified for several Championship races over the weekend, including the ECAC Championships and the NCAA Championships. His new school records include: 200 yard Fly (1:53.85, first place), which qualified for the ECAC's and the program's first NCAA Championship, 50 yard Back (24.85), 100 yard Back (53.05, third place), 100 yard Fly (50.89, second place), and the 100 yard Back (53.92) as part of the 400 yard Free Relay. Luong also qualified for the ECAC's in the 400 yard Free Relay (3:16.44), 200 yard Medley Relay (1:39.53, fourth place), and 100 yard Back.

After a weekend off, Graf, Luong, and the other qualifying members of the Pride will compete at the ECAC Championships at the Naval Academy in Annapolis, Md. on Feb. 28, March 1 & 2.
