PRIDE SWIM REGIS COLLEGE HISTORY TIMES AT TCCC INVITATIONAL

Weston, Mass.—Senior captain Ben Perry and freshman Andy Laforest each had a hand in the six records that the Regis men set at this weekend's TCCC invitational.  Perry finished 11th in the 200-yard individual medley with a Regis College record time of 2-minutes, 20.20 seconds.  He also set the 400 IM record with a fourth place finish of 4:58.51.

Perry also picked up a fifth-place finish in the 100 backstroke and third-place in the 200 backstroke with a time of 2:12.39. Laforest had a third-place finish in the 100 fly.

Laforest set freestyle records in the 50 and 100 freestyle with times of 24.17 and 53.19 respectively. Two relay records were also set by the team of Perry, Steve McGovern, Nick Yerzyk, and co-captain Mick Moriarty, finishing second-place with a time of 1:50.20.

The trio of Perry, McGovern, and Moriarty also teamed with Laforest to set a Regis College record in the 400-medley relay with a time of 4:09.67.


Also shining for the Pride in individual events was freshman Steve McGovern who finished sixth in the 100-breaststroke and fifth in the 200-breaststroke.

Overall, Perry helped lead the men to a fourth-place finish by individually contributing 35 points to the team score total of 178. Five teams competed in the Invitational.

The men will resume training through the new year when dual meet action continues with a meet January 12, 2010 at Bentley University versus Norwich University, and Bentley University.
