REGIS MEN SET NEW RECORDS FOR PRIDE FUTURE

Weston, Mass.-In its third year as a varsity sport, the Regis College men's swimming and diving team continues to set records. Five Pride swimmers set new team records in three relays, and two individual races Saturday versus Roger Williams.

Andy Laforest (Roslindale, Mass.), Stephen McGovern (Dorchester, Mass.), Mick Moriarty (Waterbury, Conn.), Ben Perry (Chicopee, Mass.), and Nick Yerzk (West Hills, Calif.) set new school records in the 200-yard and 400 freestyle relays, and 200-medley relay.

The team posted a record setting time of 1 minute, 41.32 seconds and 3:46.06 in the 200 and 400 free respectively. A time of 1:50.29 in the 200-medley gave the team its third relay record.

Laforest set two individual records against the Hawks Saturday. He posted a 53.82 second 100-freestyle, and a 59.81 in the 100 butterfly.

The Pride opened its 2009 season Oct. 24 against the University of New England, a The Commonwealth Coast Conference opponent (TCCC). The Nor'easters team is currently a club team, but Regis posted 90 points in the meet.

Regis fell to Roger Williams 109-57 Saturday, the women's team lost 121-51. The Pride will continue its season when it heads to Bridgewater State College Nov. 4. The meet is scheduled for a 7 PM start.
