WESTON, Mass. – Regis College lost to Lasell College, 20-1, Saturday afternoon at Regis Stadium in the first Great Northeast Athletic Conference match of the 2019 season for both men's lacrosse teams.

After nearly six minutes of scoreless action, Regis struck first, taking advantage of an extra-man opportunity as Michael Daras (Danvers, Mass.) scored before all of Lasell's players were back in position. The Lasers quickly responded, as James Anderson scored 34 seconds later to tie the match at 1-1.

Lasell (4-1, 1-0 GNAC) took the lead for good, eventually scoring three goals in a 53-second span to pull ahead, 4-1. The Lasers continued to put the pressure on the Pride defense, scoring four goals in the second quarter, half of them by Max Litchfield, to take a 9-1 advantage into halftime.

The visitors took advantage of their extra-man opportunities in the second half, going 4-for-6 on those chances in the third and fourth quarters. Litchfield completed a hat trick with his third goal of the match in the third quarter, while James Torosian earned a hat trick with three goals in the fourth quarter, two of them coming on extra-man opportunities.

Andrew Fidalgo and Mike Susi tied for the Lasell lead in total points with two goals and two assists apiece. Alex Beauchemin started in net for the Lasers and made three saves during the first half, while Ryan Janovic made two saves in over 24 minutes of action and Mike Davison played the remaining 5:21 as the Lasell goalie.

Brian Wagner (Melrose, Mass.) led the Pride with five ground balls, while Andrew Cook (Bedford, Mass.) picked up three ground balls and caused two turnovers. JJ LaRose (Litchfield, N.H.) played the entire match in net for Regis, finishing with 15 saves.

Regis (1-1, 0-1 GNAC) heads to New Haven, Conn., to face Albertus Magnus in a GNAC contest Tuesday, March 19, beginning at 7 p.m. The Pride return home to face Becker College Thursday, March 21, starting at 4 p.m. in a match rescheduled from Feb. 27.
