Men’s Basketball Announces 2019-20 Schedule

2019-20 REGIS COLLEGE MEN'S BASKETBALL SCHEDULE

WESTON, Mass. – On the day of the first official practice of the 2019-20 season, the Regis College men's basketball team is pleased to announce its schedule for the upcoming campaign, featuring 12 home games at Higgins Court.

The Pride open the season by participating in the Hampton Inn Jim Beaudry Classic in Biddeford, Maine, first taking on host University of New England Saturday, Nov. 16. Regis will then face either Mitchell or NYU less than 24 hours later Sunday afternoon, Nov. 17.

The home opener for Regis sees the Pride host Clark University Tuesday, Nov. 19, followed by home games against Curry College Saturday, Nov. 23, and Framingham State Tuesday, Nov. 26. After Thanksgiving, Regis heads to Providence, R.I., to take on Rhode Island College Sunday, Dec. 1, followed by a non-conference home game against Suffolk Saturday, Dec. 7.

After the winter break, Regis will compete in the Trinity Holiday Invitational, once again seeing the host school on the first day as the Pride battle the Bantams Monday, Dec. 30. Just as in the first tournament, it will be a quick turnaround for Regis on the second day, facing either Babson or Eastern Connecticut State Tuesday afternoon, Dec. 31.

Taking place in Standish, Maine last season, the Catholic Charities Classic comes to Weston this season, as Regis will host non-conference games against Rivier Thursday, Jan. 2, and Emmanuel Friday, Jan. 3, with Saint Joseph's College also participating in the tournament. After a contest at Fitchburg State Wednesday, Jan. 8, the Pride open GNAC play at Johnson & Wales Saturday, Jan. 11.

Regis hosts local rival Lasell in a non-conference game Wednesday, Jan. 15, before resuming league play at Rivier Saturday, Jan. 18. The Pride then host defending GNAC champion Albertus Magnus Tuesday, Jan. 21, and Anna Maria Saturday, Jan. 25, before a rematch against the Lasers at Lasell, this time counting as a conference game, Wednesday, Jan. 29.

Speaking of rematches, the Pride hosts Emmanuel for the second time, this time with league ramifications, Saturday, Feb. 1. Regis steps out of conference one more time, heading to New London, Conn., to face Connecticut College Tuesday, Feb. 4, before a trip to Vermont to take on Norwich Saturday, Feb. 8.

The Pride host University of St. Joseph Wednesday, Feb. 12, before traveling to Saint Joseph's College to face the Monks Saturday, Feb. 15. The final home game of the season sees Colby-Sawyer come to town Tuesday, Feb. 18, followed by the regular season finale at Suffolk Saturday, Feb. 22.

The top eight teams in the final regular season league standings qualify for the GNAC Tournament, starting with the quarterfinals Tuesday, Feb. 25. The semifinals are scheduled for Thursday, Feb. 27, with the highest remaining seed hosting the championship game Saturday, Feb. 29.

Regis College finished the 2018-19 season just outside the top eight, missing the conference tournament by placing ninth at 4-7 within the GNAC, part of a 9-16 overall record. Nate Hager, the only head coach in the history of the Regis men's basketball program, begins his 13th season at the helm, with Andrew Holmes joining his staff as an assistant coach.
