Behenna also helped put together the nominations that led to major GNAC awards for Cole Anderson (GNAC Man of the Year) in 2020-21 and Emily Fagundo (GNAC Woman of the Year) in 2021-22, plus he oversaw Fagundo's nomination as she became Regis' first-ever Academic All-America honoree in both women's volleyball and women's track & field/cross country in 2021-22. Since he arrived, Regis has earned 47 College Sports Communicators Academic All-District selections.

The Regis College sports information office, led by Behenna, was voted the 2022-23 GNAC Athletic Communications Staff of the Year by the 14 core member sports information/athletic communications offices in the league. At the Athletics Awards Ceremony in April 2023, Behenna received the Regis Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) Staff Appreciation Award for his "dedication and support to Regis College Athletics."

Behenna joined the Regis athletics department after a two-year stint at Castleton University in Vermont, where he served as the Director of Athletic Marketing and Communications for the Spartans’ 28 NCAA Division III programs.

Prior to his time at Castleton, Behenna served as the Sports Information Director at Seattle University for close to 10 years. During his tenure, Behenna played a significant part in Seattle University’s ambitious transition from NCAA Division II into Division I athletics. Specifically, he led the plan in preparing the coaches and student-athletes for the increased media exposure.

Behenna’s additional experience includes serving as the Assistant Sports Information Director at the University of New Hampshire for two years (2004-06) and at Centenary College of Louisiana for four years (2000-04).

Behenna has also worked a variety of NCAA Championships including the 2012 Division I Men’s Swimming & Diving Championships, 2006 Women’s Basketball Final Four, and 2005 Women’s Hockey Frozen Four, as well as several NCAA Regional tournaments. In addition, he ran the media room at the Boeing Classic, a PGA Tour Champions event in Snoqualmie, Wash., in 2013, 2014, and 2015.

A Massachusetts native, Behenna graduated from the University of Southern California, featuring the prestigious Annenberg School for Communication and Journalism, with a Bachelor of Arts degree in print journalism and political science in 1996. He is a member of College Sports Communicators (formerly CoSIDA), serving on the organization's Academic All-America Core Committee since 2008.
