Women’s Cross Country Earns Fourth at GNACs

STANDISH, Maine – The Regis College women's cross country team competed in the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Championships on Saturday, finishing in fourth place.

Regis was led by Maggie Mann (Buzzards Bay, Mass.) who earned First Team All-GNAC honors by finishing fourth, running the six-kilometer course in 24:18. Maddie Boucias (Buckland, Mass.) finished in 12th for the Pride, bringing home Second Team All-GNAC honors as she completed the race with a season-best 6K of 25:36.

Mann and Boucias were both named to their respective All-GNAC teams for the third consecutive year.

Ashleigh Kelley (Stoneham, Mass.) fell just short of earning All-GNAC honors, finishing in 16th place with a time of 25:58. Erin Kelley (Stoneham, Mass.) completed the course next for the Pride, finishing in 43rd place in 28:23.

Lizzy Melvin (Southington, Conn.) finished right behind Erin Kelley with a time of 28:28, setting a new personal best for a 6K, while Katie Kelley (Stoneham, Mass.), competing in her first race for the Pride, ran the course in 35:30.

Regis compiled a total of 117 points placing fourth in the meet. Colby-Sawyer won the team championship after finishing the meet with 44 points. Suffolk finished in second place with 62 points as the Rams' Emily Manfra was crowned the individual champion after completing the course in 23:11.

Regis will be off until Saturday, Nov. 16, when they participate in the NCAA New England Regional Championships hosted by Bowdoin College, with races scheduled to begin at 11 a.m.
