Maggie Mann Named GNAC Runner of Week

WINTHROP, Mass. – After leading a 1-2-3 Regis finish at Saturday's Endicott Invitational, senior Maggie Mann (Buzzards Bay, Mass.) has been named the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Cross Country Female Runner of the Week, announced Monday by the league office.

Mann completed the five-kilometer course with a time of 19:43, the only runner to finish in less than 20 minutes. It was just seven seconds off her collegiate 5K best time, and it was 70 seconds faster than her time in last week's event.

"Maggie executed a great race plan Saturday. She was confident from the start and carried that throughout the race. I am happy that she's running this fast this early and am excited to see what the rest of the season holds for her," Kourtney Bonsey, Regis head cross country and track & field coach, said.

Saturday's race marked the eighth time in Mann's Regis career that she has been the team's top finisher. Her victory, along with second- and third-place finishes by Ashleigh Kelley (Stoneham, Mass.) and Maddie Boucias (Buckland, Mass.), helped the Pride earn the team title at the Endicott Invitational.

Mann becomes the first Pride female to earn GNAC Cross Country Runner of the Week honors since Molly Curtin received the honor Oct. 16, 2017. It is the first weekly award of any kind for the Regis women's cross country team since Kelley was named GNAC Rookie of the Week Sept. 4, 2018.

The Regis cross country team next competes at the UMass Dartmouth Invitational Saturday, Sept. 21, with the men's race scheduled to start at 11:15 a.m., followed by the women's event at 12 p.m.
