Women’s Cross Country Closes Season at Regionals

BRUNSWICK, Maine – The Regis College women's cross-country team saw its season end Saturday at the NCAA Division III New England Regional Championships, hosted by Bowdoin College at the Pickard Field Cross-Country Course. 

Maggie Mann (Buzzards Bay, Mass.) placed 107th out of 399 runners with a time of 24:02.34, good enough to set a new personal record. Maddie Boucias (Buckland, Mass.) finished with a time of 24:53.35, averaging 6:40 per mile. 

Ashleigh Kelley (Stoneham, Mass.) finished with a time of 25:12.76, completing her first season with the Pride with a new personal record on a six-kilometer course. Erin Kelley (Stoneham, Mass.) finished the race with a time of 26:33.80, which also resulted in her best performance on the year. 

Desiree Jones (Oceanside, Calif.) would finish with a time of 29:19.74, just ahead of Joelle Bockus (Windham, Maine), who had her best time on the year at 29:21.34. 

As a team, the Pride would earn a total of 1,084 points for the meet to place them in 39th place out of the 57 teams that participated in the meet. MIT took the team regional title with 87 points, ahead of Middlebury's 108 points. Kaitlyn Mooney of Coast Guard won the individual title after completing the course in 20:43.74, 20 seconds ahead of Emily Bryson of Brandeis. 

After a short break, many of the cross country runners will join the indoor track and field team for the winter season, with the first competition scheduled for December.
