Regis Women’s Volleyball to Undertake Packed 2019 Schedule

2019 REGIS COLLEGE WOMEN'S VOLLEYBALL SCHEDULE

WESTON, Mass. – The Regis College women's volleyball team is scheduled to play 30 matches during the 2019 season, the most in a single year since 2016, as the Pride look to reach the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Tournament for the second time since joining the league.

The Pride open the season on the road at Dean College Wednesday, Sept. 4, followed by a weekend tournament in Quincy, Mass. Regis faces Framingham State Friday, Sept. 6, and then it plays two matches Saturday, Sept. 7, taking on host Eastern Nazarene and University of New England.

The home opener for the Pride is set for Tuesday evening, Sept. 10, against New England College, followed by a road match at Bridgewater State Thursday, Sept. 12. Regis heads to Northampton, Mass., Saturday, Sept. 14, for contests against Western New England and Smith College, and then it kicks off another busy week at UMass Dartmouth Tuesday, Sept. 17.

Regis will host Plymouth State Thursday, Sept. 19, and then the team enters GNAC play Saturday, Sept. 21, taking part in a tri-match at Simmons against Lasell and the host Sharks. Regis steps back out-of-conference Tuesday, Sept. 24, with a single match at Eastern Connecticut State.

Once again, the Pride will play two matches during Regis Fest, hosting St. Joseph (Conn.) at 1 p.m. and Albertus Magnus at 3 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 28. Regis hosts Fisher College Tuesday evening, Oct. 1, before a quick trip to face Gordon College Saturday morning, Oct. 5.

After a GNAC road match at Colby-Sawyer Wednesday, Oct. 9, the Pride head to Worcester, Mass., for a tri-match Saturday, Oct. 12, against host WPI and Fitchburg State. Regis hosts conference rival Saint Joseph's College Wednesday, Oct. 16, as well as a tri-match Saturday, Oct. 19, featuring Wentworth and Southern Maine.

Regis enters a string of six straight conference contests at Suffolk Wednesday, Oct. 23, followed by a tri-match at Emmanuel Saturday, Oct. 26, against the host Saints and Norwich. The Pride face the top two teams in the GNAC from last season back-to-back, hosting Rivier Tuesday, Oct. 29, and traveling to defending champion Johnson & Wales on Halloween.

The Pride close out the regular season Saturday, Nov. 2, with a tri-match, first completing the GNAC schedule against Anna Maria before taking on Salve Regina.

The top eight teams in the final regular season standings will qualify for the GNAC Tournament, with the top four seeds hosting quarterfinal matches Tuesday, Nov. 5. The semifinals are scheduled for Thursday, Nov. 7, followed by the championship match Saturday, Nov. 9.

For the second straight year, Regis posted a 12-16 overall record in 2018, the program's seventh straight season with at least 12 victories. The Pride finished ninth in the GNAC standings with a 4-8 league mark.
