Women's Volleyball Drops GNAC Finale At Rivier

NASHUA, N.H. - The Regis (Mass.) women's volleyball team's bid to host the first round of next week's Great Northeast Athletic Conference Tournament took a hit, falling in three sets to Rivier in the Pride's league finale Thursday at Muldoon Gymnasium. Set scores were 25-17, 25-23, 25-23.

The eight-team field for next week's tournament has already been set, but with the loss Regis (11-15, 7-5 GNAC), for the moment, fell out of the top four which would send them on the road to for the GNAC  quarterfinals. The league season officially comes to a close on Saturday, Oct. 28 with the standings and eventual seedings sure to shuffle by day's end.

Katryna Veasey (Quincy, Mass.) nearly posted a double double for the Pride with nine kills and 11 digs while also adding a pair of blocks. Shay Faber (Fort Lauderdale, Mass.) recorded four kills, 13 assists and eight digs with Caroline Fuentes (Downey, Calif.) adding a pair of digs.

Sophomore Taylor Dunster (Sutton, Mass.) led the way offensively for Rivier (18-10, 10-2 GNAC) who secured a host bid in the GNAC quarterfinals. She hammered down seven kills while also picking up 17 digs. Freshman Emma Soucy (Dunbarton, N.H.) also recorded seven kills while junior setter Hayley Macken (Clifton Park, N.Y.) dished out 28 assists and Bethany Trevino posted 20 digs. Alex Trevains totaled four kills and junior Taylor White (Dunstable, Mass.) knocked down six with Madison Soucy registering eight digs in her final home performance.

Both teams finish the regular season on Saturday with non-conference play. Regis visits Gordon for a 1:00 p.m. first serve with Rivier traveling to Endicott College for a non-conference tri-match with the Gulls and Eastern Nazarene College.
