Saturday's Scores and Results

WPI 3, Regis College 1 (20-25, 32-30, 25-12, 25-13)

WPI rallied past Regis College after dropping the opening set for a 3-1 (20-25, 32-30, 25-12, 25-13) win over the host Pride on day two of the Regis College Pride Invitational. Cassandra Tomerlin (La Quinta, Calif.) led the Engineers with 14 kills, 15 digs, and five service aces, while Kenzie Whalen (Hollis, N.H.) joined her in double-digit kills with 10. Maddy Werth (Bedford, Mass.) chipped in eight kills of her own, while Brianna Parent (Epping, N.H.) posted 12 digs in the victory. Caroline Meyer (Easton, Mass.) led WPI with a game-high 36 assists and added six digs.

For the Pride, Sara Casullo (Little Falls, N.Y.) and Jackie Silver (West Hills, Calif.) paced the Pride attack with nine kills apiece, while Sam Bliss (Framingham, Mass.) and Kristina del Rey (Miami, Fla.) chipped in seven kills each. Sara Gold (North Hollywood, Calif.) led Regis with 16 digs on the day, with de Rey adding eight of her own in the setback. Marilia Ramos (Chimbote, Peru) handed out 32 assists, while Erin Picard (Bellingham, Mass.) picked up her first two collegiate assists on the day.

 

MIT 3, Eastern Nazarene College 0 (25-15, 25-9, 25-17)

MIT moved to a perfect 3-0 to start the 2013 season as the Engineers swept Eastern Nazarene College, 3-0, on day two of the Regis College Pride Invitational. The Engineers were led by 11 kills from Kristine Bunker (Falmouth, Maine), while Tatiana Berger (Ft. Lauderdale, Fla.) added eight of her own. Meghan Gebhard (Howell, Mich.) and Jennie Glerum (Redmond, Wash.) combined for 10 kills in the win. Tori Wuthrich (Grosse Point Woods, Mich.) posted a game-high 16 digs and Angela Ha (Houston, Texas) chipped in 11. Paige Studer (Huntington Beach, Calif.) and Nicole Gagnier (Atlanta, Ga.) combined for 29 assists, with Gagnier dishing out a game-high 19.

Eastern Nazarene's Cayla Clinkscale (Winchendon, Mass.) and Leann Williams (Oxford, Pa.) led the Lions with four kills apiece, and Kortney Jenkins (Bunker Hill, W.V.) added two of her own. Sam Losano (Elverta, Calif.) led the ENC defense with 12 digs, while Dana Day (Coarsegold, Calif.) added two service aces and six digs. Lauryl Berger (Laurel, Del.) handed out 10 assists.

 

Rivier University 3, WPI 0 (25-15, 25-19, 25-17)

Rivier used set scores of 25-15, 25-19, and 25-17 en route to a 3-0 sweep of WPI in game two of the Pride Invitational. Nicole Peacock (Warwick, R.I.) led the Raiders attack with 13 kills, while Lauren Silverman (Chelmsford, Mass.) added nine of her own in the win. Molly McCormack (Ballston Lake, N.Y.) and Nicole Boucher (Windham, N.H.) posted five kills apiece and McCormack also added eight digs. Jessica Amaral (East Providence, R.I.) led the Raiders defense with 14 digs and Emily O'Reilly (San Francisco, Calif.) had 26 assists to go with three block assists.

The Engineers were led by four kills apiece from Maddy Werth (Bedford, Mass.), Kenzie Whalen (Hollis, N.H.), and Adrienne Weishaar (Chester, N.H.). Sarah Cook (New Paltz, N.Y.) and Cassandra Tomerlin (La Quinta, Calif.) led the WPI defense with five digs each, while Werth and Brianna Parent (Epping, N.H.) each added four digs. The Engineers had 10 service aces in the match, led by Tomerlin's three. Caroline Meyer (Easton, Mass.) dished out 10 assists in the setback.

 

MIT 3, Mount Ida College 0 (25-5, 25-7, 25-21)

MIT improved to a perfect 4-0 on the season with a 3-0 victory over Mount Ida College by set scores of 25-5, 25-7, 25-21. The Engineers had seven players notch at least two kills, led by five kills apiece from Megan Gebhard (Howell, Mich.), Morgan Stewart (Powell, Ohio), and Kristine Bunker (Falmouth, Mass.). Lauren Uhr (Honolulu, Hawaii) and Jennie Glerum (Redmond, Wash.) posted five service aces apiece, while Tori Wuthrich (Grosse Pointe Woods, Mich.) led the MIT defense with 10 digs on the day. Nicole Gagnier (Atlanta, Ga.) added 14 assists, while Paige Studer (Huntington Beach, Calif.) also had eight helpers.

Haley Paradis (Hampton, N.H.) led the Mount Ida attack with five kills on the afternoon. Abbey Fedigan (New Fairfield, Conn.), Molly Alkinburg (Port Deposit, Md.), and Alysha Dunbar (Quincy, Mass.) also added two kills apiece. Kelcey Koolman (Bedford, N.H.) had nine digs to lead the Mustangs defense, while Chevona Markel (Torrington, Conn.) handed out a team-high nine assists in the setback.

 

Rivier University 3, Regis College 0 (25-14, 25-20, 25-18)

Rivier University wrapped up the 2013 Pride Invite with a 3-0 win (25-14, 25-20, 25-18) over host Regis College in the final match of the day. Nicole Peacock (Warwick, R.I.) led the Raiders with eight kills, while Morgan Peck (Sudbury, Mass.) had six kills and Molly McCormack (Ballston Lake, N.Y.) had five of her own in the win. Chelsey Hussey (Lebanon, Conn.) led Rivier with six digs, while Nikki Deluga (Cotuit, Mass.) and McCormack had five digs each. Emily O'Reilly (San Francisco, Calif.) handed out a team-best 21 assists to go with four service aces. Jessica Amaral (East Providence, R.I.) also added four aces to go with four digs.

The Pride were led by nine kills from Jackie Silver (West Hills, Calif.) while Sara Casullo (Little Falls, N.Y.) chipped in seven of her own. Kristina del Rey (Miami, Fla.) and Sam Bliss (Framingham, Mass.) added five kills apiece as well. Sara Gold (North Hollywood, Calif.) registered 15 digs on the afternoon, while Marilia Ramos (Chimbote, Peru) led the Pride with 25 assists.

 

Mount Ida 3, Eastern Nazarene 1 (25-22, 23-25, 25-22, 25-20)

Mount Ida picked up its first win of 2013 with a 3-1 victory over Eastern Nazarene College on Saturday afternoon. The Mustangs were led by 17 kills from Hillary Kostner (Corona, Calif.), while Abbey Fedigan (New Fairfield, Conn.), Emily Hutvanger (Beacon Falls, Conn.), Molly Alkinburg (Port Deposit, Md.), and Nicole Batakis (East Longmeadow, Mass.) added five kills apiece. Nicole Peixoto (New Bedford, Mass.) dished out 36 assists in the win and added a game-high nine service aces on the day. Kelcey Koolman (Bedford, N.H.) posted a game-high 22 digs, while Lucianna Medici (Riverside, R.I.) added 10 of her own.

Eastern Nazarene received eight kills from Dana Day (Coarsegold, Calif.) to go with six kills from Cayla Clinkscale (Winchendon, Mass.). Hannah Welsh (Derry, N.H.) and Leann Williams (Oxford, Pa.) also added four kills apiece for the Lions. Sam Losano (Elverta, Calif.) notched 19 digs on the day for ENC while Welsh (10) and Day (11) joined her in double digits in digs. Lauryl Berger (Laurel, Del.) handed out 21 assists in the setback.

Rivier University 3, Eastern Nazarene College 1 (25-13, 25-14, 20-25, 25-20)

Rivier defeated Eastern Nazarene College, 3-1, in the opening match of the Regis College Pride Invitational. The Raiders used set scores of 25-13, 25-14, 20-25, and 25-20 in the win. Nicole Peackock (Warwick, R.I.) paced the Raiders attack with 13 kills, while Molly McCormack (Ballston Lake, N.Y.) added eight of her own to go with 15 digs. Jessica Amaral (East Providence, R.I.) led Rivier with 22 digs on the day, while Emily O'Reilly (San Francisco, Calif.) dished out 31 assists. Jackie Pisecco (Chelmsford, Mass.) and Nicole Boucher (Windham, N.H.) combined for 13 kills.

The Lions were paced by 14 kills from Hannah Welsh (Derry, N.H.), while Kortney Jenkins (Bunker Hill, W.V.) just missed out on a double-double with 10 kills and nine digs. Dana Day (Coarsegold, Calif.) added six kills and a team-high 14 digs in the setback. Lauryl Berger (Laurel, Del.) led the ENC attack with 31 assists and added 10 digs for a double-double.

 

Regis College 3, Mount Ida College 1 (21-25, 25-16, 25-18, 25-19)

Sam Bliss (Framingham, Mass.) and Jackie Silver (West Hills, Calif.) posted seven kills apiece to help lead the Regis College Pride to its first win of the year, 3-1 over Mount Ida College. Marilia Ramos (Chimbote, Peru) handed out 19 assists and added a pair of service aces in the win. Sara Gold (North Hollywood, Calif.) led the Pride defensively with 18 digs, while Kristina del Rey (Miami, Fla.) added seven digs, three blocks, three kills, and two service aces. Sara Casullo (Little Falls, N.Y.) added four kills and a team-best three service aces in the win.

The Mustangs were paced by six kills from Hillary Kostner (Corona, Calif.) and five kills from Abbey Fedigan (New Fairfield, Conn.). Nicole Batakis (East Longmeadow, Mass.) and Haley Paradis (Hampton, N.H.) chipped in three kills apiece, while Nicole Peixoto (New Bedford, Mass.) had two kills, an ace, and 22 assists. Kelcey Koolman (Bedford, N.H.) notched a game-high 26 digs, while Kostner had three service aces in the setback.

 

WPI 3, Mount Ida College 1 (25-21, 23-25, 25-11, 25-19)

Freshman Cassandra Tomerlin (La Quinta, Calif.) led the way with 16 kills, while senior Holly Ganser (Seward, Alaska) and Maddy Werth (Bedford, Mass.) chipped in with eight kills apiece to lead the Engineers to a 3-1 win. Tomerlin also paced her team with 11 digs to go along with two block assists. Freshman Carolina Meyer (Easton, Mass.) led all players with 32 assists, and also had two service aces and seven digs. Kenzie Whalen (Hollis, N.H.) pitched in for WPI with nine kills, two service aces, and a team-leading three blocks.  

Mount Ida was led by the duo of Fedigan and Kostner, who combined for 14 kills in the losing effort. Peixoto paced the Mustangs with 23 assists, while she also had nine digs. Koolman had a team-leading 11 digs to go along with one kill and one assist. Freshman Maryssa Dwyer (Quincy, Mass.) led all players with five service aces. 

 

MIT 3, Rivier University 2 (25-23, 18-25, 21-25, 25-23, 15-13)

MIT's Tatiana Berger (Fr. Lauderdale, Fla.) and Megan Gebhard (Howell, Mich.) combined for 31 kills to lead their squad to a 3-2 win over Rivier. Berger also had a service ace, one assist, and ten digs, while Gebhard added four digs and a block assist. Freshman Tori Wuthrich (Grosse Point Woods, Mich.) had a team-leading 15 digs for the Engineers, and senior Kristine Bunker (Falmouth, Mass.) pitched in with three total blocks and eight kills.

The Raiders once again saw Peacock and Pisecco have big games, as the pair combined for 27 kills and six digs. McCormack had nine kills, one service ace, and a team-leading 24 digs for Rivier. O'Reilly also pitched in with 43 assists, two service aces, two digs, and two blocks. Freshman Lauren Silverman (Chelmsford, Mass.) added six kills of her own to go along with a team-leading three total blocks. 

 

MIT 3, Regis College 1 (25-20, 25-20, 13-25, 25-17)

The Engineer's Berger and Bunker tallied seven kills apiece as MIT defeated the Pride, 3-1. Bunker also added a team-high three blocks, while Jenny Astrachan (Austin, Texas) tacked on four kills, seven digs, seven service aces and a block. Nicole Gagnier (Atlanta, Ga.) chipped in with 28 assists, three digs, one block, and three kills. Wuthrich once again led MIT in digs with 17, and she also added three assists and three service aces. 

The Pride were paced by Bliss and del Rey, who combined for 15 kills in the losing effort. Bliss added three services aces, one assist, and ten digs, while del Rey had a team-leading three total blocks to go along with two digs and two service aces. Ramos dished out 20 assists, five digs, one block, and one service ace for the host squad. Gold led the way with eleven digs, while she also chipped in with three service aces and one kill. Silver also had a big game for Regis, as she registered six kills, one assist, two service aces, one dig, and two blocks. 

 

WPI 3, Eastern Nazarene 1 (25-23, 21-25, 25-20, 25-18)

WPI picked up its second win of the night with a 3-1 win over Eastern Nazarene College in the nightcap of the Regis College Pride Invitational. The Engineers used set scores of 25-23, 21-25, 25-20, and 25-18 in the win. Kenzie Whalen (Hollis, N.H.) led WPI with nine kills, while Cassandra Tomerlin (La Quinta, Calif.) added seven of her own with seven digs. Maddy Werth (Bedford, Mass.) and Sarah Cook (New Paltz, N.Y.) added six kills apiece, with Werth adding a game-high 16 digs in the win. The Engineers used 16 aces to fuel the 3-1 victory including six service aces from Tomerlin and five from Whalen. Caroline Meyer (Easton, Mass.) paced the offense with 24 assists.

Eastern Nazarene was led by eight kills and eight digs from Hannah Welsh (Derry, N.H.), while Leann Williams (Oxford, Pa.) and Kortney Jenkins (Bunker Hill, W.V.) added six kills apiece for the Lions. Cayla Clinkscale (Winchendon, Mass.) added five kills of her own to go with three total blocks. Lauryl Berger (Laurel, Del.) handed out 20 assists, while Sam Losano (Elverta, Calif.) led the Lions with 15 digs on the night. Dana Day (Coarsegold, Calif.) added four kills and seven digs in defeat.
