Women’s Track and Field Breaks School Records at ECSU Invite

MANSFIELD, Conn. – The Regis College women's track and field team broke multiple school records and had members of the team qualify for the New England Regional Championships, as they competed in the Eastern Connecticut State University Invitational Friday afternoon.

Fatima St. Hilaire (Dorchester, Mass.) broke a pair of school records on the day. She started by breaking her own record in the 100 meter dash for the fourth consecutive week, finishing the race in 12.31 seconds to place first among NCAA competitors. She also won both the long jump in 5.63 meters (18' 5.75") and the triple jump in 11.14 meters (36' 6.75").

St. Hilaire also broke the 200 meter dash school record, recording a time of 27.11 seconds, beating the previous record by 0.33 seconds and finishing fourth. Emily Fagundo (Dover, N.H.) placed sixth with a time of 27.65 seconds.

Liz Ksepka (Calais, Vt.) also qualified for her second event in the New England Championships by throwing a distance of 33.51 meters (109' 11") while placing first in the discus. Ksepka also took first place in the shot put with a throw of 11.42 meters (37' 5.75") and third place in the hammer throw at 40.36 meters (132' 5").

Freshman Ashleigh Kelley (Stoneham, Mass.) finished the 1500 meter run in second place with a time of 5:06.54, breaking the school record set two years ago by Maddie Boucias (Buckland, Mass.), who finished the race in eighth place with a time of 5:21.75.

In the 100 meter hurdles, Malaysia Cabral (Boston, Mass.) finished second with a time of 16.73 seconds. Karen Di (Lowell, Mass.) finished seventh in the 100 meter hurdles in 17.20 seconds and third in the 400 meter hurdles with a time of 1:14.73.

Eastern Connecticut State finished the meet in first place with 201 points, ahead of Bridgewater State with 148 points. Regis placed third with 122 points.

The Pride will compete next week at the Great Northeast Athletic Conference Championships Saturday, Apr. 27, and Sunday, Apr. 28, held for the second straight year at Regis Stadium.
