HOOKSETT, N.H. – Three school records were broken by the people who held them as the Regis College women's track and field team faced strong competition at the Penmen Relays, hosted by Southern New Hampshire University at Penmen Stadium.
Fatima St. Hilaire (Dorchester, Mass.) continues to rewrite her own records, first lowering the 100 meter dash school record time to 12.68 seconds, fourth-best among 96 competitors in the preliminaries. She advanced to the final, where she crossed the finish line in sixth place with a time of 12.70 seconds.
St. Hilaire also won the long jump after posting a school record mark of 5.74 meters (18' 10") on her fifth attempt. It was 0.11 meters further than the previous school record she established last year. In addition, she won her heat of the 200 meter dash in 27.56 seconds, the same time as teammate Emily Fagundo (Dover, N.H.) as she finished second in her heat.
Maddie Boucias (Buckland, Mass.) continued her improvement in the 3000 meter steeplechase, finishing fifth with a time of 12:15.01, over 11 seconds faster than the previous school record she set two weeks ago at Tufts.
In the 400 meter dash, Lourdes Jean-Louis (Pelham, Mass.) posted Regis' best time, finishing 15th overall in a time of 1:03.15, just ahead of Fagundo's time of 1:03.18. Ashleigh Kelley (Stoneham, Mass.) also finished 15th in the 800 meter run with a mark of 2:31.07.
In the throwing events, Elisabeth Cooke (East Longmeadow, Mass.) advanced to the finals of the discus throw, eventually finishing in ninth place with a mark of 32.14 meters (105' 5"), attained on her third attempt. Liz Ksepka (Calais, Vt.) reached the finals of the shot put, ending up in seventh place with a top throw of 11.17 meters (36' 7.75"), notched on her first attempt.
As a team, the Pride finished tied for 13th out of 28 teams that scored with 19 points. Assumption won the team competition with 112 points, followed by host Southern New Hampshire with 80 points, while Rhode Island College was the top Division III school and third overall with 77 points.
Regis will head to Mansfield, Conn., for its final regular season meet of the year, as the Pride will participate in the Eastern Connecticut State University Invitational next Friday, April 19, starting at 2 p.m.
