Fatima St. Hilaire Repeats as GNAC Track & Field Female Athlete of Week

WINTHROP, Mass. – Senior Fatima St. Hilaire (Dorchester, Mass.) has earned Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Track and Field Female Athlete of the Week honors for the second straight time, as announced by the league office Monday.

Last Friday at the Regis Spring Classic, St. Hilaire improved upon her own school record in the 100 meter dash, posting the top time among 36 competitors in the preliminaries at 12.76 seconds, 0.02 seconds faster than the previous record she set March 30. She ended up with the fastest time of the day in the 100 meter dash, as no one topped her mark in the finals.

St. Hilaire did not compete in the 100 meter dash final because she was in the middle of her participation in the long jump. She posted a jump of 5.34 meters (17' 6.25") on her first attempt, and that held up as the top mark throughout the rest of the competition. She finished the event 0.5 meters ahead of the second place finisher, and her next two attempts would have been long enough to win the event.

St. Hilaire received the weekly award from the GNAC last week after qualifying for the Division III New England Championships in both the 100 meter dash and the long jump at the Snowflake Classic.

Regis next competes at the Penmen Relays, hosted by Southern New Hampshire University, next Saturday, April 13, beginning at 10 a.m. at Penmen Stadium in Hooksett, N.H.
