Women’s Track and Field Kicks off Spring at Wesleyan

MIDDLETOWN, Conn. – The Regis College women's track and field team went to Connecticut to participate in the Wesleyan Spring Classic hosted by Wesleyan University. 

In the 200 meter run, Emily Fagundo (Dover, N.H.) would break her personal record with a time of 28.51 seconds. In the 400 meter run, Lourdes Jean-Louis (Pelham, Mass.) would finish in fourth breaking her personal record with a time of 1:06.19, and Fagundo would finish in eighth with a time of 1:07.19.

The 800 meter run would see Maddie Boucias (Buckland, Mass.) finish in the top half of the field with a time of 2:46.47, and she would also finish with a time of 5:21.91 in the 1500 meter run. Ashleigh Kelley (Stoneham, Mass.) would finish ahead of Boucias in the 1500 with a time of 5:18.86.

In the throwing events, Liz Ksepka (Calais, Vt.) led the way as she finished with a new personal record in the hammer throw with a distance of 36.03 meters, finishing in the top five. Ksepka would also finish in the top three in the shot put with a throw of 11.17 meters. Elliana Boebel (Bedford, Mass.) and Elisabeth Cooke (East Longmeadow, Mass.) would also finish in the top 10 in the event.

The discus saw two members of the Pride, Ksepka and Cooke, finish in the top five with distances of 11.17 meters and 9.76 meters, respectively.

The Pride will continue competition during the spring season next weekend when they compete at Tufts next Saturday, Mar. 30.
