Another Record Falls for Women’s Track and Field

Plymouth, N.H.Liz Ksepka (Calais, Vt.) broke a school record for the second consecutive week when the Regis College women's track and field team traveled north Saturday for the Plymouth Invitational hosted by Plymouth State.

In the weight throw, Ksepka broke her own record by throwing a distance of 14.29 meters, beating her previous school record by 0.12 meters. Elliana Boebel (Bedford, Mass.) also finished inside the top five with a distance of 12.05 meters.

In the shot put, Ksepka would once again be the leader for the Pride throwers. She would set a new PR with a distance of 11.88 meters, winning the event. Boebel would throw a distance of 10.06 meters in the event, giving the Pride two finishers in the top 15.

In the 60 meter hurdles, Malaysia Cabral (Boston, Mass.) and Karen Di (Lowell, Mass.) would qualify for the finals in the event, eventually finishing the finals with Di in sixth with a time of 10.38 seconds and Cabral in eighth, setting a new personal record with a time of 10.42 seconds in the preliminaries.

Cassandra Froio (Tewksbury, Mass.) would earn the Pride a point in the 60 meter dash, finishing eighth with a time of 8.44 seconds. Erin Kelley (Stoneham, Mass.) would complete her mile run with a time of 5:51.56 finishing in sixth. Ashleigh Kelley (Stoneham, Mass.) would represent the Pride in the 800 meter run, finishing in sixth with a time of 2:34.94.

The 200 meter dash would see the Pride place three in the top 15. Lourdes Jean-Louis (Haiti) would be the first Pride runner to place with a time of 29.22 seconds, and Emily Fagundo (Dover, N.H.) would set a new personal record finishing in 29.28 seconds. Froio would round out the runners in the top 15, finishing in 29.38 seconds.

Regis would finish in sixth place out of the 13-team field with 35 points. Eastern Connecticut State would win the meet with 104 points, followed by Keene State with 103 points.

The Pride will be back in action next Saturday, Feb. 9 when they participate in the Gordon Kelly Invitational, hosted by MIT.
